November 25, 2007
November 25, 2007
Countdown to Season of Advent: Advent has a twofold nature: It prepares us for Christmas, when we recall Christ’s first coming among us, and it is also a time when we look forward to his second coming at the end of the ages. Advent is a season of joyful expectation.
Remembering the Faithful Departed: November Souls of the Faithful Departed. Let us remember them by placing the names of loved ones and friends on the paper provided and dropping it in the box in the gathering space.
Evening Prayer and Exposition for Advent: As daylight begins to fade, the Christian community is invited to come together to praise and thank God for the gifts of the day. Our parish will offer evening praise on Wednesdays of Advent, Dec. 5,12 & 19. Beginning at 7:00 pm the services includes the celebration of light, spoken and sun scripture, prayer and reflection. Following the service, there will exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 8:00 pm.
CELEBRATION OF THE FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION OF MARY: Eucharistic Celebration on Sat., Dec. 8, 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Basilica Cathedral. All are invited to attend.
Canada Must Oppose Privatization of Water and recognize water as a Basic Human Right! One point four billion people lacked access to drinking water and a further 2.6 billion to basic sanitation facilities in 2007. A reality that has direct and harmful consequences on the levels of health, education, poverty, social development, and gender equity in the lives of the world’s poor.
Sign our petition today! Co-sponsored by the Council of Canadians, the Quebec World Water Contract Association and Development and Peace, it will be presented to the federal government in 2008.
