Fr. Boyd’s principal ministry and work has been in high school education.  He has taught for the past 23 years at Loyola High School, Montreal; Gonazaga High School and St. Bonaventure’s college, St. John’s.  He has been for the past four years President and Principal of St. Bonaventure’s College.  At present, he is on a sabbatical year and is availing himself for ministry in the Diocese of Ottawa during his sabbatical.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.)  Rite of Election Next Sunday, a great sign of conversion for our Parish will be our catechumens who will be undergoing the Rite of Election at Notre Dame Cathedral.  Our baptized candidates will be there to support them.  The catechumens are proclaiming to us that they believe that God has called them to participate in the Easter mysteries of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist, or for our candidates already baptized, to enter into full communion.  They are entering into a more intense preparation of purification and enlightenment.  We, the Church, ratify their choice and support them with our prayers and encouragement.  We welcome them even more into our midst and witness our faith to them as they, by their conversion, call us also to conversion.

The Role of the “Episcopal Vicar” in the Archdiocese of Ottawa.  The word Episcopal relates to the office of bishop which is to teach, govern and sanctify God’s people in a particular area called a Diocese.  A vicar is an assistant to the bishop and serves as an advisor.  Some of the duties include pastoral coordination of youth ministries, Adult Faith Development, the Permanent Diaconate, working with the Pastors, Deacons, and Pastoral Workers being a liaison with the Catholic schools and the school boards, working with the “Come and See” program to encourage priestly vocations and of course a few other related duties.  Our diocesan Centre is located at 1247 Kilborn Place.  The number for the center is (613) 738-3359 (226) and the email address is jmuldoon@ecclesia-ottawa.org.  You can also reach the Centre by (613) 738-5025.
