Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
March 16, 2008
March 16, 2008
Palm Sunday also known as Passion Sunday, celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry to the holy city of Jerusalem. Palms will be blessed outside the Church (weather permitting) and a procession with palms will enter the Church.
CHRISM MASS: This year’s Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 18, 7:30 p.m. It will be followed by a reception in the Cathedral Hall, and all the clergy, religious and faithful of the Archdiocese are cordially invited to attend.
Holy Thursday: Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 pm: Good Friday: Service of the Lord’s Passion at 3:00 pm - Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence. During the Good Friday Service a collection is taken to support the pastoral, educational and social mission entrusted to the Franciscans of the Holy Land by our Holy Father the Pope. Please give generously to support this land sanctified by Jesus’ presence on earth.
DEVELOPMENT and PEACE Due to the inclement weather this past weekend, we will take the collection for Share Lent this Sunday as well. This is our opportunity to share, through the auspices of a Canadian Catholic organization, with the less fortunate in our world. Development and Peace focuses on justice, democracy and peace for all people.
The Knights of Columbus and Catholic Women’s League of our parish will be hosting the Way of the Cross on Friday March 14, 2008 starting at 6:30 P.M. followed by the serving of a Lenten soup in the social space. Please join us.
GOOD FRIDAY WAY OF THE CROSS: Through the streets of downtown Ottawa. Procession, prayer, meditation and song, led by Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, S.J.
