Father Andrew Obel will speak to the parish next weekend in support of the Mission for the Archdiocese of Tororo in Uganda, East Africa. Within its present borders, the archdiocese serves about 550,000 catholics of the approximate 2.5 million population and is responsible for the following facilities: 40 parishes, 731 out-stations (village churches with no resident priest), 4 hospitals, 12 maternity/health care centers, 1 orphanage (Babies’ Home at Gangama, Mbale), 2 homes for disabled at Budaka and Butiru.
Transportation Bus Schedules for 2007-2008 School Year
Thousands of Catholic school students across Ottawa will be heading back to class on September 4, 2007. Ottawa Catholic School Board bus schedules for the 2007-2008 year are now available on the Board’s website at www.ottawacatholicschools.ca or by calling the Board’s Transportation Department at 613-224-3223, extension 2336. Additionally, copies of high school bus schedules are now available at all high school locations. Elementary school schedules can be obtained at all elementary school locations as of August 28th.
The volunteers at the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard will be holding their annual yard sale fundraiser on Saturday, September 22. We are looking for help from the church community as we gather items to sell. We would be very thankful if you could post the enclosed notice and inform your congregants directly that we invite them to drop off donations at 2040 Arrowsmith Drive between September 17 and 21. Everything except clothing is appreciated. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you on the 22.
Thank You to all who helped with the Vespers Service and reception with Archbishop Prendergast presiding. The Archbishop was gratified to see so many people in our beautiful church.
New to the Parish? Welcome! Please fill in a registration form, or call the office. Have you considered sharing your material blessings with your parish as part of your estate planning? A gift to Good Shepherd parish in your will assures the community of the Gospel being passed on to many. Thank you for considering this request.

Eight simple resolutions for the Liturgical New Year
1. I resolve in the next year to treat each Sunday Eucharist as the most important event of the week.
2. I resolve in the next year to do all I can to participate more fully in the celebration of the Sunday Mass. For example: I resolve to sing all the songs and acclamations; I resolve to respond in the liturgy with conviction and whole-heartedness; I resolve to make use of the liturgical silence by praying as I’ve been invited to do.
3. I resolve in the next year to get a copy of at least one of the Eucharistic prayers used at Sunday Mass and to reflect prayerfully upon it during the week, so that I may enter more fully when it is prayed on Sunday.
4. I resolve in the next year to read prayerfully and carefully the Sunday scriptures at least once during the week before mass.
5. I resolve in the next year to arrive before mass begins and to leave the church only after the liturgy has ended.
6. I resolve in the next year to take part in at least two other liturgical celebrations of the church, in addition to Sunday (one of the sacraments, seasonal Reconciliations services, prayer services, Vesper service, Blessings, Eucharistic devotions, etc.)
7. I resolve in the next year to take the dismissal of the Mass, “Go in peace to love and serve the Lord” seriously, and to somehow make it real in my life during the week.
8. I resolve in the next year to pay careful attention to the homily during Mass, in an attempt to hear the voice of the Lord speaking to me in relation to that day’s scriptures.
