The parish would like to explore the creation of a Good Shepherd Community of Retirees. It could meet once a month during the morning to build community in some way to be determined by the members. If you would like to explore this further please contact the parish office with your name and contact information or send an e-mail to john.flynn@rogers.com. John will follow up in the New Year with all who are interested.

Youth Nights will be starting up again as of January 9th, 7-9pm.  Boys and Girls aged 12-18 are invited to join us as we begin youth teams heading various initiatives, including topics of faith and life that the youth have chosen themselves.  Contact Kat, or through the parish office.

ENVIRONMENT: Thank you to all of you for helping to put everything together for Christmas.

Cliff Seibel, Ray Madden, Rick Kobner, JP Clément, Roy and Florence Nias, Dianne Kingston, Myrna Hemendra,  Chris Joiner and Phil Trembly.

Whether you were  bringing  in 12 tree's and numerous storage bins - erecting tree's and stringing lights - hanging wreaths and an Angel - sorting through tangled lights that didn't always work - hanging banners - arranging flowers and cleaning up - you did it all on time and with a smile!

Our Church looks beautiful at this time of the year and this would not happen without your generous time and contribution - despite your own commitments at home and at work, you all managed to come in at some point and help bring it all together. For this our sincere appreciation - we will count on you all to do it again next year!!

Patricia Clément., Environment Chair.

FOOD DRIVES: Food centres in your parish area need food items for the long cold winter months ahead as job losses increase and investment based pensions decrease. Many basic food items have increased at twice the rate of inflation and only one in five food centres can meet increasing demand. Thank you for your continued support.

A New Year Prayer

Holy Father,

God of our yesterdays, our today, and our tomorrows.

We praise You for Your unequaled greatness.

Thank You for the year behind us and for the year ahead.

Help us in Your new year, Father, to fret less and laugh more.

To teach our children to laugh by laughing with them.

To teach others to love by loving them.

Knowing, when Love came to the stable in Bethlehem, He came for us.

So that Love could be with us, and we could know You.

That we could share Love with others.

Help us, Father, to hear Your love song in every sunrise,

in the chirping of sparrows in our backyards,

in the stories of our old folks, and the fantasies of our children.

Help us to stop and listen to Your love songs,

so that we may know You better and better.

We rejoice in the world You loved into being.

Thank You for another new year and for new chances every day.

We pray for peace, for light, and for hope, that we might spread them to others.

Forgive us for falling short this past year.

We leave the irreparable past in your hands, and step out into the unknown new year knowing You will go with us.

We accept Your gift of a new year and we rejoice in what's ahead, depending on You to help us do exactly what You want.

I say it again, we rejoice!

In Jesus name,

Amen.
