YEAR OF ST. PAUL: VOTIVE MASS.
The Archbishop has informed the Parish that the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments has issued a decree giving permission to celebrate Mass on the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul in recognition of the Special Year of St. Paul, on Sunday, January 25th, 2009. On the day of this Votive Mass the faithful may obtain a Special Plenary Indulgence accorded during the Pauline Year when the norms for such an indulgence are fulfilled. The norms request the faithful is to attend confession within a week before or after the Votive Feast Mass and a prayer is said for the Holy Father’s intentions. Also, the recitation of one Our Father and the Creed must be said. The Holy Father’s intention is printed above in this bulletin. “An Indulgence is partial or plenary according as it removes either part of all of the temporal punishment due to sin. Indulgences may be applied to the living or the dead”. #1471 Catechism of the Catholic Church.
