Stations of the Cross - The Stations of the Cross will be held on Friday evenings at 7:00 pm during Lent.

SAVE THE DATE!
The Youth of our Parish will be hosting a fundraising 50’s Night Dance on Saturday, February 21st @ 7PM.   Proceeds will support parish youth initiatives and the Ottawa Food Bank. 
YOUTH - So What Are the Youth up to? Through January, the Friday night program looked at World religions and interfaith dialogue.  One night focused entirely on the Judeo-Christian-Islamic history, and another night looked at Hindu and Buddhist practices.  February will begin with a two-part series on Theology of the Body. 
 
TRANSIT STRIKE – A generous volunteer has contacted the Parish to offer anyone in great need to be driven to an important appointment, groceries, etc. during the day (not evenings). During the transit strike if anyone is in need contact the Parish office (Bonnie) and she will contact the volunteer for necessary arrangements.
 
MUSIC MINISTRY - The Good Shepherd Parish music ministry needs an accompanist for the Cantor, once a month, every second Saturday at the 5PM Mass.  If you are able and willing to share your talents, please contact Charlotte Gupta 613-841-2894 or cgupta@rogers.com
 
“ST. PAUL’S JOURNEY” Saturday, 28 February 2009, 9:00 AM to 12PM (Parish Social Space). Join us for an exploration of the social, political, and religious world of St. Paul, and a reflection on how these cultural factors influenced his faith journey and message. No charge. Sunday, June 14th.  Mark that date on your calendar! Your fundraising committee will host the 3rd Annual Good Shepherd Parish Golf Tournament that afternoon.  Best ball, shotgun start at 2PM.  Buffet dinner catered by chef Franz Gierer and his staff to follow in the social space. COMMUNITY OF RETIREES - The parish would like to explore the creation of a Good Shepherd Community of Retirees. It could meet once a month during the morning to build community in some way to be determined by the members. If you would like to explore this further please contact the parish office with your name and contact information or send an e-mail to john.flynn@rogers.com. HOMELANDS MASS:  Notre Dame Cathedral, Sun., February 22, 2:30 PM.  All cultural communities are invited to attend, and all those from various cultural backgrounds, who attend our English and French parishes.  It will be a great occasion for all to gather and adore the Lord who gathers in all nations into one people!
 
ADULT FAITH EDUCATION SERIES:  With Dr. Lau.  THE GOD DELUSION and other errors in logic.  Is religion the reason we go to war? "TURNING THE TIDE - DIGNITY, COMPASSION & EUTHANASIA": A parish-based workshop on end-of-life issues.  Parishes are invited to send a representative to learn how to facilitate the above 2 hour workshop. 40 DAYS FOR LIFE CAMPAIGN: During Lent, Feb. 25 - Apr. 5, 2009. In repentance for all the victims of abortion, Life Campaign consists of prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil during the entire 40 days. VISIT TO THE EAST COAST: Nine day visit of the East Coast of St. John's, Newfoundland, and the French islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon. Info: Fr. Bill Penney (613-728-7451).
 
HIKE ALONG THE OTTAWA RIVER:  230 km walk along the Ottawa River ending at the Saint-Joseph Oratory, in Montreal, passing by the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Sanctuary in Rigaud.  Departures for the 12 day hike begin May 25 - June 18, with teams of 6 persons leaving daily. ST. MATTHEW HIGH SCHOOL - On Friday, February 6, 2009 @ 7PM, St. Matthew’s School Council is holding Trivia Night.  Groups of six players will form to participate in a fun-filled evening of trivia, prizes, and refreshments.  The cost is $10 per person.  This is a great opportunity for the adult members of our community to get together and socialize.  Further information regarding this event, as well as the purchase of tickets, can be obtained by contacting the office at St. Matthew at 613-837-3161 or check the school website.
MASS FOR RELIGIOUS LIFE:  You are all invited to attend Mass in honor of the Religious in our Diocese presided by the Most Terrence Prendergast, S.J.  Saturday, January 31, 10:00 AM. at St. Joseph Church (Cumberland & Wilbrod).  This mass will be recorded by CBC and broadcast on Sunday, February 1, 10:00 AM. on French CBC.
